  1. Thank you for your deep friendship. A friendship that often pulled me back from the edges.

Years ago when Ande was researching women in country music and rodeo, there was a great yarn about a woman who lived out on the minefields in a caravan with little kids. To stop them from falling down mine shafts, she'd tie each one with a long piece of rope to the caravan, so they could play safely, unobserved.

It's an image I have of you as a friend; tethering me with a gentle rope in some rugged terrain...and not a little bent at times.

  2. For your wit, your wickedness and your deep deep wisdom - how can it all be held in that one small parcel of person?

  5. Thank you for the beautiful conversations we have had together. Thank you for sharing some of your strength and peacefulness with me. When we worked on your amazing novel recently we laughed and we cried and we were inspired and excited. I feel blessed to call you my friend. And Jane, thank you for holding my hand when we were at Lisa's BBQ earlier this year. I was sad and you held my hand.

  6. 2 weeks after passing my driving test, and 1 week after buying my first car I had a close encounter with a pillar in a car-park. We planned to meet in Coogee that day and i rang in a state of panic to say that i had 'crashed' the car. You surveyed the damage and proclaimed that it was just a 'prang'. A 'prang' sounded much less horrifying than a 'crash'- thanks for the reframe Jane. You then pointed out that as i had just passed my test when it came to driving i was 'like an 18 year old'. Thanks for your exquisite use of language. Thanks for your support and your friendship. I am going to miss you.

  7. Jane you spoke our words for our mother at her funeral, we could not do it and you so happily volunteered, that meant so much to us.
You also stopped me that night on the porch doing something which I would have regretted. I did not even see you sitting there but your words changed the direction I had been heading towards and I thank you so much for that.
Thank you for being comfortable with the two of us it was never hard for you that meant a great deal to me.
